In one corner of the infirmary, Bonnie is resting with a new arrival.

The baby opens her eyes, and peers around...

Father Harman, having seen the note on the board, quietly walks into the infirmary to see if Bonnie is awake.

[is_the_motion]

Bonnie's eyes are closed, but there is a little wriggle from the bassinet next to the bed.

Father Harman quietly walks over to have a look at the wriggle.

[is_the_motion]

At the movement, Bonnie stirs, and smiles tiredly at him.

"Hey Pearse." she says.

Billie peers in his general direction, and does a little yawn.

[witchfinder_general]

"Hello, Bonnie," Harman says. "How are you?"

[is_the_motion]

"Tired and sore, but relieved." Bonnie says. "How are you?"

[witchfinder_general]

"Thank you, very well," Harman says. "So this is Billie Rae?"

[is_the_motion]

"Sure is." Bonnie says. "Hard ter get used to not havin' the bump."

[witchfinder_general]

"Who is she named for?" Father Harman asks.

[i_am_your_host]

Emcee reads the sign on the notice board with a loud gasp.

And then there's a moment of indecision, in which he's torn in two directions at once. Eventually he gives in to one direction, which is upstairs, to his room, to fetch the cowboy teddy bear that he'd won at the fair. Then he hurries back down to enter the infirmary, poking his head into the room where he sees Bonnie resting.

Bonnie's eyes are closed, but there's movement from the bassinet, where a little hand can be seen over the top.

[i_am_your_host]

Damn. He was hoping Bonnie would be awake so he didn't have to deal with the baby and what if it cried or suddenly pooped or something or--

All right, it's just a baby.

Emcee quietly approaches the bassinet and peers into it from a respectful distance. Holding the teddy bear up in front of himself like a shield.

[is_the_motion]

Billie peeps at him, then does a little yawn.

"Hey." Bonnie opens her eyes and smiles at him.

[i_am_your_host]

"Oh, hallo," he chirps in sort of a stage-whisper. Although he realizes he doesn't have to whisper because both Bonnie and the baby are awake. Or perhaps the baby is trying to sleep? He can't tell. He clears his throat. Softly.

"How are you, darling?" he asks Bonnie in a murmur.

[is_the_motion]

"Sore and tired, but relieved." Bonnie says, reaching over to pick up Billie from the bassinet and hold her gently. "Thanks fer comin'."

[i_am_your_host]

"I saw the sign that was posted on the bulletin board, and I thought, already? And here? I thought you weren't due for another month. I suppose she couldn't wait much longer."

A pause.

"She is quite adorable, I must say."

[is_the_motion]

"Do you want to hold her?" Bonnie asks.

"And yes, it was meant to be another month, but I was clearin' up the fair and she decided enough was enough."

[herr_bookman]

Autor skids around the corner, running full tilt to come see Bonnie. He slows down just as he approaches the door to the infirmary. He heads to her bedside quietly, hoping Bonnie's awake.

[is_the_motion]

She has her eyes closed, but she opens them when he approaches.

"Hey Autor."

There is movement at the bassinet...

[herr_bookman]

"Hey, Bonnie," Autor says, glancing at the bassinet. "So you finally had her. Congratulations."

[is_the_motion]

"Sure thing." Bonnie says. "Thanks fer comin' to visit."

Billie peers up at him, and does a little baby yawn.

[herr_bookman]

"Oh, gosh, she's so cute," Autor says, cooing at the baby. "And so tiny, too. And you're welcome. Was the labor difficult?"

[is_the_motion]

"Do you want to hold her?" Bonnie asks.

"And lord, you don't want to hear about the labour, but we were all safe, that's all you need to know."

[herr_bookman]

Autor's gaze softens as he glances to the baby. "Yes, please," he says warmly. "How much does she weigh?"

[is_the_motion]

"Five and a bit pounds." Bonnie says, handing Billie over.
