"Oh, shoot," Autor says, glancing up from Billie to Bonnie's face. "I didn't think of that either. Hopefully the school will have a decent substitute lined up. They won't fire you, will they?"

"They don't - it'll either be Lucy or one of the bikers." Bonnie says.

"I hope they do a good job," Autor says, shifting his hold on the baby. "There's still a month left of school? You won't be recovered by then, will you?"

"Couple weeks, and no." Bonnie says. "I hope to be back fer the next semester in September if I can."

[herr_bookman]

"She'll be about a year old then," Autor says, glancing to the baby. "Won't Turtle and the kids be surprised that you've had her. How was the actual labor? Did anyone aside from Guppy help you?"

"Not a year. Six weeks." Bonnie says.

"And Rae helped. You don't want ter hear about labour, surely?"

[herr_bookman]

"Oh, I thought you meant next September," Autor says, a little sheepish. He shifts the baby to his other arm. "And no, I don't particularly need to hear about the labor. I'm just glad it was safe. And I'm glad Rae helped, too. That was kind of her. The baby will be okay for coming a month early, right?"

"Guppy says she'll be just fine." Bonnie says.

Billie opens her eyes wide and looks up towards Autor, before wrapping her little fingers around his arm.

"Aww," Autor says, smiling down at the wee babe. "She's so beautiful, Bonnie. I should probably give her back to you, though, just in case she cries."

"She's about due a feed anyway." Bonnie says, taking the baby back. "Thank you. You'll get plenty more chances for cuddles."

[herr_bookman]

"I look forward to it," Autor says, his shoulders easing once Bonnie takes the baby. "Congratulations again."
