"Oh yes, thank you! Oh-- and yes. Yes I-- that's your painkillers? Yes, I probably should, then." He'd rather forgotten the leg for a moment, but it does actually hurt a good bit. "I'll go back to using a cane for a while too-- I know to stay off it."

...he knew he shouldn't dance on skates, too, really. But a cane is actually fun to use.

"You might try alternating hot and cold compresses, too," he says, "to help bring down the inflammation ... And do you want anything for pain?" This to Bossuet, whose silence might concern him if he didn't suspect that it's more a personality trait than a symptom.

"Ah-- would that be okay, with the drinks? He had...a lot." Which Joly wouldn't mind if he knew what they were, but... "They were colorful. I don't know what else."

He grins, suddenly and wryly, at Simon. It's true, he's not usually this quiet. In the back of his mind he's reflecting on whether making a public spectacle of oneself at a party is really the same in Milliways as in Paris, where it at least made a political statement. But mostly he's just delighted that Joly is connecting with the infirmary. "I"m afraid I'm not so allegorical a representative of the Republic as our friend Enjolras."

He finds himself answering the grin, with matching wryness.

"In that case, I'd recommend you take a few doses with you for after the alcohol wears off. And drink a great deal of water before then; a blow to the head is quite bad enough without a hangover on top of it. Allegorical or otherwise."

Except don't forget painkillers, because hangovers are apparently still a problem. "No cure for overindulgence, then? Then maybe I can still hope to add something to science eventually."

"And I expect I'll give you many opportunities to try new treatments." Lesgle's smile is now quite rueful. "Thank you, Doctor. Joly, are you still deep in professional consultation, or can I offer you my arm in support? You'll have to navigate; I'm still not sure where our new room is."

Joly takes his arm, but he's still looking around the infirmary with wide eyes. "I suppose we'd better get to our rooms. I can read before-- Doctor Tam? Should I come by tomorrow, or would another date be more sensible..?"

A half-beat, and he adds conscientiously: "And while there isn't exactly a cure for hangovers, rehydration and aspirin will help a lot with the symptoms."
