Hannibal Lecter, visiting post

If anyone wants to see Lecter, the opportunity is there.

He has tubes all over the place, and a sensor alarm in the bed that alerts medical staff should he try to bugger off or jump up at anyone, so you're probably quite safe.

Guppy will be keeping an eye on him for the first 48 hours or so, but feel free to have visiting medics come in to relieve him.]

Guppy shakes his head and sighs.

"Did you mean what you said about never intending to harm anyone here?"

"Yes, of course," Hannibal says. "She shot me, not I her. This place is too precious to me to break rules here."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Then why continue to hide what you do?" Guppy asks. "You're not the first murderer to come here."

[cook_the_rude]

"Urquhart was a professional," Hannibal says. "Cooking, however, was strictly a hobby to him, unconnected with his job. It's a pity those zombies got him; I liked working with him."

Pause.

"In the kitchen."

[guppy_sandhu]

"And why continue to mess with people, like Autor?" Guppy asks. "What has he ever done to you? He's not a threat. You know as long as you don't kill anyone here we can't do anything."

[cook_the_rude]

"Don't underestimate Autor," Hannibal says. "He's very good at what he does, and getting better. He's learning from me, even though he tries to deny it."

[guppy_sandhu]

"What, and you have to be an asshole to him to do that? Why can't you just treat him normally?"

[cook_the_rude]

"Why do you think I'm not doing that, and he is exaggerating for his own reasons?" Hannibal says.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Oh come now Hannibal, we both know you get a kick out of it." Guppy says. "Same reason you wind up me, or Javert. All a bit crude and childish really, when you're an intelligent man who, when not being a total psychopath, is reasonably charming and likeable."

"I don't wind you up on purpose, Guppy," Hannibal says. "I quite respect you. Javert, now, he was very rude to Fry and really deserved a dose of his own nastiness. I had to read that book in school and couldn't help wonder."

Guppy snorts slightly at the first part. If Hannibal respects him, he's got a very strange way of showing it. Though he's probably not going to admit to being a persistent bastard while he's got a chest drain in. But then his expression is more serious.

"Come now, if Fry can move on and have a sensible conversation with Javert, surely that's the end of it. Besides, you were mean to Fry the other day, even though he was trying his hardest to see if he could keep you as a friend by putting in place some safety guidelines. Do you have any idea how difficult it was for him to attempt that?"

"He is slightly obsessed with the idea that I can throw knives," Hannibal says. "But I should have expected that. However, I wouldn't want to lie to Fry just to make him calm down. Fry deserves to be take seriously."

Pause.

"And if Javert treats him decently now, then I have no more to say to the subject. The man obviously learned his lesson."

It's not quite decently, so much as improving, but Guppy certainly isn't going to go there.

"Fry would not want you to do anything further on his part." he says. "He doesn't mind grown ups helping him in a struggle but he likes to do his own 'revenging'."

"I hear he glued somebody to the floor?" Hannibal says, with an approving little smile.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Oh yes. And handcuffed his grandmother to a radiator, and got another boy's head stuck in a tree." Guppy says. "To which the fire brigade had to be called.

"But those people weren't his friends, which is why after you started calling him words he came home and had a complete meltdown."

[cook_the_rude]

"Call him words?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"Obsessed, I believe it was." Guppy says. "You were there, not me, so you should know."

[cook_the_rude]

"But he is," Hannibal says. "In that moment, he was obsessed with the subject of me throwing knives, and I tried to draw his attention to it to enable him to stop."

[guppy_sandhu]

"He is five years old." Guppy says. "He was looking for any way to be able to keep you as a friend. Don't you get that? It wasn't about you throwing knives. It was about him still being able to talk to you if he was six metres away. It was about him knowing you were dangerous and trying to think of a way around it."

"He can't articulate why you are scary. He can't extrapolate that data. We couldn't tell him why you were scary and that was all he had to go on."

"You couldn't tell him?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"You seriously think I'm going to tell my five year old son you're a cannibal?" Guppy snorts incredulously. "He knows you're a murderer, and that you tell lies to hurt people, he doesn't need to know any more than that."

"It might be difficult to explain why one can eat animals, and why people aren't supposed to be animals, is it?" Hannibal says.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Fry would never eat anything sapient no matter what species it was." Guppy says. "You are not to start the subject with him either, should he break my ruling not to speak to you again."

[cook_the_rude]

"Where do you draw the line to sapience?" Hannibal asks. "Is it acceptable to eat apes, as they do in Africa? Is it acceptable to eat dolphins?"

"It isn't acceptable to eat humans in any culture that didn't die out in the last two thousand years."
