Travis laughs, slightly choked, at Gene's cigarette being taken away, but his mood sobers rather quickly when Belar starts to talk.

Wait, what? He just has to stay with this stupid voice? Hell. No.

Gene glares at Guppy as his cigarette is taken away. OK, so he has a point but it doesn't, in his mind, outweigh his need for a nicotine fix.

In direct opposition to Travis's reaction though, he cheers up immensely when Belar speaks. His look at Travis reeks of Smug.

'Too right.'

Guppy nods to Belar.

"If they kick off I'll stun gun them and come find you." he says.

Then he gloves up. He gets some sterile gauze and gives it to Travis.

"Hold that on the wound."

Then he goes to check Gene over first.

Travis grumbles lightly and holds the gauze against his head on the left side.

His shirt, he decides, is a lost cause, and is starting to just feel disgusting, so he manages to take it off without upsetting any of his injuries.

He doesn't even care what Gene has to say about this.

Gene tuts and looks away, but not before getting a look at the man's tattoo.

'Bloody hell. You one of them pot-smokin' hippies as well as a woofter?'

Because seriously, he can't see why anyone not high would do that to themselves.

And as Guppy moves closer, he calmly takes a step back, keeping his weight off the leg that Travis kicked the knee of.

'I told ya. I don' need lookin' at.'

There's an air of finality in his tone that suggests Guppy needs to think again before trying to get too near him with any of his futuristic machines.

"I know you did." Guppy says. "Your appearance suggests otherwise. I'm not going to do anything you don't want me to. But if you go around walking on that knee without getting it sorted out, you're probably going to do permanent damage.

Now sit down and hold this on your face." he says, handing him some gauze.

Glancing at Travis. "I'm not taking sides, this is just triage."

More to the point, Gene is going to wander off if he doesn't do him first, and isn't likely to seek help if he needs it.

"Either of you get knocked out?"

"FUCK YOU!" Travis quacks at Gene.

Yeah, okay. So he does care what Gene says.

He pulls the gauze away to see if the bleeding's stopped. It apparently hasn't, so he puts it back.

'Shut it, Daffy. An' mind your bloody language.'

He takes the gauze and sits down. He can't afford to have a permanently damaged knee so he'll take it for now but he's about to bolt if anything weird appears.

'I smacked 'im with a glass ashtray,' he offers, after a beat. 'In th' head. He wasn' knocked out though.'

More's the pity.

"Oi!" Guppy says to Travis. "I wasn't kidding about the stun gun."

He shakes his head and examines Gene's knee by hand, checking the range of movement, and where the pain is.

"Bloody coppers, know exactly where to hit..."

Coppers trained in martial arts especially know exactly where to hit.

But, fine. If he can't verbally sling insults, Travis decides to just flip Gene a V and goes back to holding the gauze to his head.

Gene rolls his eyes, as though he's totally above that sort of thing (despite...not being. At all.)

'Look, there's nothin' bloody wrong with it. Nothin' a fag won' sort, anyway. I've had worse fallin' over the curb on a Saturday night.'

"It looks like you've got away with a soft tissue injury." Guppy says. "Nevertheless, you're going to need to be extremely careful with it. RICE. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. I'm going to bind it up, and you need to be on crutches a couple of days.

Ignore this advice at your own peril."

He gets a wrapped ice pack and puts it on Gene's knee.

"Right, let's have a look at your face. You're going to need stitches if you won't let me use the skin fuser on it. Otherwise you're going to have a big scar that you can't explain at home."

'Stitches?'

He touches his fingers to his cheekbone, and winces. He's about to say 'it's not that bad' again but then is pulled up short by the mention of a scar back home he can't explain.

He makes no mention of the crutches though. He will ignore the statement and assume it will go away.

"Do you want stitches or skin fusion?" Guppy asks. "Skin fusion is better cosmetically, but you seem unkeen on future technology."

'You keep your bloody machines away from me.'

Skin fusion doesn' sound the same as that scanner thing he had before but he's taking no chances. There's something about it that made his skin crawl. He won't contemplate it near him, ever.

"Okay, I'm going to give you a local anaesthetic. This'll sting a bit, then it'll go numb."

Guppy injects local anaesthetic around the wound. He's not going to try and scan Gene until last, since he suggests that'll be a source of conflict.

In the meantime, he goes over to Travis.

"Right, let's see how you're doing." he says. "Where are you injured other than your face?"

Travis shrugs oddly and removes the gauze so Guppy can see the gash on his head from the ashtray.

Dirty-fighting bastard. Who hits someone with an ashtray?

His back is probably showing a bit of bruising as well, from when Gene tackled him into a table, but he doesn't really care about that so much.

"You're going to need stitches or skin fusion as well. And a scan. Any preferences?"

He shrugs. He's not really sure what the difference is, and as long as he doesn't have to wind up shaving his head, he'll be happy.

"The skin fuser basically grows the skin back." Guppy says. "It'll be tender for a few days, but it won't leave a mark."

"YEAH, ALL RIGHT," he says quietly. He still sounds like a duck, but hopefully Gene can't hear it from all the way over here.

Guppy gets the skin fuser, instructs Travis to keep still, and fuses the wound back together.

He then gives Travis a general check over. He can see signs that there may be internal damage, so he gets the scanner out.

"This is a non-radiation scanner. Keep nice and still while I check you for internal damage, okay?"

He's not entirely sure about all this, but he'd rather like to think that he's annoying Gene by cooperating.

"WHAT IS IT?" Travis asks cautiously. He can't help but laughing slightly at the Donald Duck thing he has going. It is sort of funny, he realises.

"Future technology." Guppy says. "It's actually safer than any scanner from our time on Earth."

He shrugs dismissively. Yeah, all right. Seems all right.

If it hurts, he'll just tell Guppy to sod off.
