Guppy's Birthday Party

Inside the Infirmary all looks normal, save for a cordoned and partitioned of area to the side.

Behind the partition the normally quiet and simple looking Infirmary has been transformed. Across the top of the wall opposite the partition, there are some banners strung up that read 'Happy Birthday!'. Many balloons line the walls and partition.

Upon a set of tables along the wall, there is a 3 layer cake that reads 'Happy Birthday Guppy', a veggie platter, a fruit platter, a sandwich platter, and an assortment of snacks, from potato chips to a platter of various cookies (chocolate chip, chocolate-chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter, and sugar cookies with sprinkles on top.

An area in front of the tables has been cleared for dancing and a radio sits in the corner with a disk in it that has a mix of music from Amanda's club.

Amanda is busying herself around the corner of the infirary. Making sure that the drinks are cold and that there is tea ready. A smile is plastered on her face. She prepares to greet the guest as they come in.

Hank grins as he passes in briefly to check on things and nods hello to Amanda.

"Cant stay long. Got to bhe on the look out for Guppy, but just wanted to make sure it all is as you want it befor people show up."

Amanda is beaming, "Yes thank you very much Hank. This is perfect. Now we just need the guests."

The Horta glides in, carrying a brightly wrapped package in his fringe.

"Good! I'm not late."

Mal wanders in with a smile on his face and a leather bag in his hands. Mal's not much for the wrapping bit, so it's pretty obviously a doctor's medkit.

"He's not here yet, is 'e?"

The ever smiling Amanda is right there with an answer, "Hello Mal, No not yet. He should be here soon though. Hank has gone to keep an eye out for him."

Guppy's Arrival!

There is a burst of crowd noise then the sound of footfalls as Hank leads Guppy into the Infirmary from the main Bar. Hank's voice sounds.

"Right back here, Guppy. I have a table ready for the exam."

Then a few moments later the partition is pushed aside and Hank leads Guppy into the brighter area, and stands back, grinning.

He also happens to cut off retreat options by doing so, Not that he is thinking of such. Of course.

At the yell of 'Surprise' Guppy is sufficiently surprised. Enough to accidentally step on Hank's foot anyway.

"Sorry Hank." His expression quickly changes to a large grin.

"If you all want to examine my bruises you're going to have to form a queue."

Hank grins, clapping Guppy carefully on his shoulder.

"Not a problem, my friend. We wanted you to enjoy your party. You deserve it."

Standing back so that he can enjoy the company of all his friends. She watches on studying his reaction and expression. At times she will go back to orginizing. Things and making sure that there is enough foor and drinks and that the presents table is all neat.

Aeryn is standing on the sidelines, next to the food table. She smiles at Guppy, but doesn't approach him or any other of the guests.

She shouldn't be recognisable, what with the dress (http://www.dullneon.com/things/squarespace/red-dress-woman.jpg) and the necklace Random bought her. But she's still standing like a soldier. She appears to be eyeing the radio with some trepidation. Music usually means dancing.

Naraht waves from his corner where he's making inroads on a chunk of marble shaped like an infinity symbol.

"Happy birthday!" he calls out.

From somewhere in the back of the room, Asar-Suti waved to Guppy in the general jubilation.

He had a glass of white wine in his hand, and drank in salutation.

One small box is from Hank. It is carefully wrapped in blue and gold tissue paper. Inside are two items. The first is a normal looking wristwatch with a larger screen that conctains a small but up-to-date lexicon of current pharmacueticals and their effects and clashes updates from Guppy's own Earth. The second is a small framed print of tiger kittens playing together on some open plains.

There is a rather odd shaped package from Abs, wrapped in red paper. Inside is a toasted sandwich maker, a kitchen timer and a smoke alarm.
He'd thought about a fire extinguisher, but it was too big to smuggle into the bar without Guppy noticing.

Gil's present is wrapped rather loosely in aluminium foil because he had the idea too late to get proper paper and used what was to hand.

It's a pair of running shoes with the unusual addition of steel toecaps and the following note is attached to the laces.

"Dear Gups,

I hope these come in useful.

He carefully doesn't add a "PS - the idea is that you run like buggery but if they are faster than you are you turn round and kick 'em inna fork'.

Amanda's present is neatly wrapped in a shiny gold and silvery paper. There is a note,

Happy Birthday. I'm glad that I have had the pleasure of meeting you and becoming friends. You have a kind and gentle soul and you deserve nothing but the best. And once I get the timing down in my owrld verses Milliways you are going on a vacation in my world.

Inside the box is a bok on basic self defense, including important tips on how to try and avoid dangerous situations. Most of what is in the book is geared towards quick ways to throw your opponent off balance long enough to run. There is also a stylish casmir turtle neckmade by Armani.

There is a smallish envelope. It is pale purple, which probably tells Guppy already who it's from.

Inside, there is

a) a year's subscription to a weekly karate course for beginners, in a private karate school in Holby

and

b) a card just saying:

Naraht's blue and silver wrapped package contains a rounded iridescent crystal.

But it's not one found on Earth. This is a tellurian singing stone. When a living being holds it, it creates a beautiful sound...which is unique for each being to hold it.

Janet leaves a plate with pretty cellophane wrapped around it. Inside, there is a loaf of Pumpkin bread. A card is attached to the side of the plate.

Sara finds her way in, looking sheepish. She had completely forgotten about the party.

Not knowing Guppy well personally, she leaves him a current set of medical journals, hoping they may prove of use in the infirmary.

Guppy doesn't open the presents until after the party. A small thank you card is left at the bar.
