(no subject)

Kevin is working intently in his little area at the back of the infirmary, but he emerges occasionally to check on the current patients.

Scribble eyes him carefully for a few moments, then tenses. She growls quietly to herself and springs, aiming to snag the octopus by a few of its legs.

"Yipe!" Ray announces as the octopus is SNATCHED!

Not that he wasn't expecting it, but really, when a dinosaur pounces, it's startling. That was mostly an honest yelp right there.

Scribble skitters to a halt as she dives away with her prize, nearly slipping. She drops the toy and crows, displaying her foreclaws and looking quite pleased with herself. Not only did she grab the toy, but she also managed to make Ray yelp. It looks like her practicing surprise attacks has been working.

But the toy is always more fun when there's someone to tug back, and so she brings the toy back to him, tossing it back onto the bed.

And really, that's what matters. She's going to need all the surprise capability she can get when she's out there on her own.

"You know what we need to work on?" Ray asks as he picks up the octopus and starts tossing it from hand to hand. "We need to get you something rubber. Something that'll stretch, so it'll be like fighting back-"

He makes as if to throw the octopus across the room, but doesn't let go. The instant Scribble looks back at him he holds it out for another grab.

Scribble's head bobs back and forth as she watches the octopus move from hand to hand. She swings her head around at the false-throw, but as soon she fails to see the toy go sailing her attention returns to Ray. With a squawk, she lunges to grab at the toy, this time with her foreclaws.

She's smarter than most dogs Ray knows. The majority of 'em seem to take two or three false starts before they figure out where the ball is. Her foreclaws sink in nicely, and Ray grabs at the octopus with his other hand. He knows when he's in for a fight.

(OOC: It's nearly 1 AM. We should probably fade here...)

"Rrr!" It's a happy growl-she enjoys playing, and she enjoys showing off what she's learned, mostly because she knows it leads to food in the end. Food, a toy, and her favorite fuzzy tickbird. It's a good night for Scribble.
