Bonnie is recuperating in the infirmary after a bad reaction to the flu.

Well, that's what she's supposed to be doing. Right now, she's sat on the edge of the bed helping the infirmary waitrats fix the voice activated tech that Guppy has been trying to install for the last four weeks.

As promised, Jay's still there when she wakes up, the little drone George perched in his shoulder as he works on a set of blueprints projected in 3D in his lap.

Bonnie has slipped her oxygen tube off to reach some of the components.

"Can you believe this?" she says. "No wonder Guppy cain't get his voice activated thing to work, the sensor that's meant to point at the patient is pointing at the infirmary waitrats. That's why he keeps gettin' a pulse readin' of 450."

"Oi. You only get to rebuild the equipment if you keep the oxygen in." He comes over to sit on the edge of the bed, pulling the gear closer. "I can bring tools up if you need but you have to recover too."

Bonnie puts the oxygen back on.

"Okay computer, what are the oxygen levels?"

'Sats are 88%. Target sats are above 94%'

"I guess that's me told." she lies still for a bit. "I just feel like I should be doin' somethin' constructive."

"Listen to the machine if you won't listen to me." Jay teases, grabbing her a glass of water.

"I totally listen to you." Bonnie says, between coughing. "I didn' protest when you did yer knight in shinin' armour back there."

"Not so shining." Jay chuckles, helping her with the oxygen. "More impact resistant kevlar than steel."

"I figure that's what modern knights would wear." Bonnie says.

"I guess there must have been a time where all the knights suddenly got made redundant." she ponders.

"B refers to himself as a knight sometimes." He shrugs. "So I guess they didn't. Some of them just became vigilantes instead. Although, I'd like to think of myself as a Ronin."

"Well Gerry's lucky you ain't twenty years older or he'd have a rival." Bonnie grins. "The one time he tried to be a knight I pretty much ended up rescuin' him."

Jay gives his most rakish grin. "Gerry's the new bloke? How are things going with him?"

"He took me out fer dinner on his birthday." Bonnie says. "I ended up jumpin' out his bedroom window the next mornin' without my shoes because Turtle and Celia showed up with his birthday present and let themselves in."

She grins, but shakes her head. "Autor spotted me comin' to the bar without my shoes, he don't approve at all."

Jay laughs, warm and genuine. "Oh Bonnie! That's great. I love it."

He waves that last comment away. "Autor needs to loosen up. A lot."

Autor knocks on the door trim, holding a bouquet of wildflowers. "Bonnie?"
is_the_motion: (kind)

[personal profile] is_the_motion 2018-02-17 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Bonnie looks up. She currently has her nasal oxygen tube on her forehead, which is probably a sign that she's feeling a bit better.

"Hey Autor." she gives him a smile. "Oh, those are pretty!"
herr_bookman: (hadn't considered that)

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2018-02-17 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The flowers are a vibrant arrangement of color, oranges and reds and yellows, and a few tiny sprigs of blue and white. Dahlias, tulips, and hydrangeas crowd each other. "I heard you'd gotten sick. I didn't know you needed oxygen. Shouldn't that be in your nose?"
is_the_motion: (Default)

[personal profile] is_the_motion 2018-02-17 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, yes, probably." Bonnie puts it back on.

"Thank you fer comin'. I thought it was just flu but I got a lot more sick."
herr_bookman: (oh really)

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2018-02-17 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Autor crosses to her and offers the flowers. "What was your official diagnosis?"
is_the_motion: (Default)

[personal profile] is_the_motion 2018-02-17 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pneumonia." Bonnie says. "Guppy put me on a drip and I feel better, but he wants me to stay in a couple days, until I stop needin' the oxygen."

She accepts the flowers and gives them a sniff. "I'm too bunged up to smell them, but they're beautiful."
herr_bookman: (but I disagree)

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2018-02-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Autor crosses his arms over his chest, leaning on her bed. "Hmm. Well, don't push yourself. I know recovering is boring, but you need the rest."

"Guppy said it was probably because I got a bad liver." Bonnie says, resting back on the bed. "And that next year I shouldn't go around lookin' fer sick people to feed."
herr_bookman: (but I disagree)

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2018-02-17 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"And Milliways doesn't have any technology that can heal the liver damage?" Autor says, frowning. "Surely there's something that can be done."

"It was gettin' better, but the flu made it bad again." Bonnie sighs.

"Guppy says he's lookin' at installin' some sort of tank to try and dip me in, but he doesn't know if that'll work."
herr_bookman: (glasses)

[personal profile] herr_bookman 2018-02-17 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope it does," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. "And if that doesn't, we can find something else. The bar is magic; I'd be shocked if there wasn't something that could help."

"Anyway, he says I should stay away from the flu next time." Bonnie says. "Have you had it this year?"
