There is space in the infirmary tonight for people who did not decide to follow standard safety instructions when they went to the roller disco.

"I'm aware," Autor says, frowning at his busted ankle. If he weren't stranded here, then Hannibal wouldn't have found him, and he wouldn't be having this conversation afterwards. He continues looking away. "Thank you for... trying to protect me."

"Then act like it cause I don't know what he does, but I don't want to be picking up the pieces of you someday. You're my friend and he wasn't nice,"

And he's going to keep on trying to protect Autor as he doesn't seem good at doing it himself.

"You won't be picking up pieces," Autor says, pinching the bridge of his nose. "He won't use violence here. That's not how he works."

To say nothing of emotional and psychological damage, but Autor's just going to ignore that for now. "Are you all right? That's the first time you've met him and he didn't manage to do anything to you now, right?

"I hope you're right. He acted like I wasn't here, which was rude, but other than that nothing. I've had other people treat me that way cause I was too young or too poor, it doesn't bother me that much,"

That's not completely true but it worried him how Autor was so fascinated by this man.

"Good," Autor says, tempted to smile at William's calling Dr. Lecter out on his rudeness. The boy doesn't. "Good. As long as you weren't hurt by him." He shakes his head. "So what was that book you were talking about again?"

Not long after they came in, William had asked a wait rat to pick up a stack of books and pulls another one to start reading as he's feeling tired.
