(no subject)

Guppy and Hannibal spent a fair amount of time working on Sunshine yesterday, and she is currently resting in one of the beds.

She could probably do with some gentle company.

Kate rubs her brow, much the way her father did when he was dealt bad news.

"Gracious. They followed her in? Christ inna chicken basket."

She tears her eyes from the hospital bed long enough to locate a chair.

"She'll be all right, though?"

"She will be," Dr. Lecter tells her. "She came in fighting them already. I closed her door before more could come."

She leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees, and rubs her face. She nods, letting it all soak in.

"M'glad y'were there."

"I am glad I was there to help her, too," Dr. Lecter says, gravely. "Luckily, Dr. Sandhu was here as well and came very soon."

Her relief at hearing Guppy's name is palpable. She means no offense to Dr. Lecter's skill, but she trusts Guppy more.

"Oh, good. I know she's been fightin' for a long time, an' I know she's much stronger'n I give her credit for, but I worry somethin' fierce."

She cares about Rae a good deal; ever since she met her as a young girl, years ago. It's hard not being a little protective of her.

"She is safe, for now, and on the mend," Dr. Lecter says. "Her world is dark and filled with monsters."

She nods once more.

"D'you think she can eat sweets, or will she need t'be on a healthsome diet until she's healed? I'd like t'bring her somethin' later on."

Beat.

"For that matter, have you eaten? You've looked better, Dr. Lecter."

"I think," Dr. Lecter says, with a little smile, "whatever sweets she can have to cheer her up is much better than bland food considered healthsome. I don't hold with healthsome food much unless it tastes good. Nothing can replace good taste."

She breathes a soft laugh.

"I don't think I've made a bland morsel my whole life. Would y'like me t'bring you somethin'? Or perhaps I can sit with her a spell so you can go have yourself a rest?"

"That might help," Dr. Lecter says, getting up and stretching somewhat. "I will give the soup I'm making for her a little stir."
ikissdhimbck: (Smiling)

She smiles.

"You do that, an' maybe catch a li'l shut-eye while you're at it."

It's not often she gets to be the one counseling him, but she does so with the unassuming quietness of a motherly sort. Point is, he shouldn't rush back on her account. She'll stay as long as she's needed.

"Thank you, Kate," Dr. Lecter says. "That will help. I won't be long."

He nods to her, and leaves.
