Guppy leads Mark into the infirmary and helps him onto a bed.

"Just relax there for a moment." he says, getting some rubber gloves on.

Mark lays back on the bed, shaking a bit from pain, and bruises and, frankly, the emotional loss of his camera, which he is still clinging to for dear life.

Guppy runs the scanner over Mark, watching him carefully as he does so.

"Okay Mark, the scanner is picking up some signs of broken ribs and internal bruising. May I please examine you? I'm going to need to remove your shirt."

He reaches for the camera. "Can we put this to one side for a moment?"

"Um. Yeah. I guess." He gives up his camera, shooting it a look usually reserved for people he loves. Carefully, painfully, he removes his shirt. Ow. "Yeah, go ahead, do what you have to."

Guppy gently examines Mark after carefully placing the camera on the next bed.

"Can you tell me where the pain is? I also need to know if you were knocked out, and if you have any pain in your neck or back."

Mark points to a few places, one on his shoulder, a few on his sides, and legs, and one on his back. All are bruised noticably. "There's a bit of pain on my mid-back, but frankly, everything fucking hurts. I don't know if I passed out or not. It was rather all a blur. I think I was conscious through the entire thing, but for all I know I missed part of it." And frankly, he wishes he'd missed the entire damned thing.

Guppy checks with the scanner and is unable to find anything majorly wrong with Mark's back.

"Okay Mark. As you might have been knocked unconscious it is standard procedure to keep you in overnight. Obviously this might not be possible for you, being Milliways, but I would strongly advise it. I can give you something for the pain, and strap you up to support those ribs. Then you're going to need plenty of rest. If you want more advanced technology, I can get Dr. Hank McCoy to come and see you as well, but as it's treatment from his time I'm not qualified to carry it out myself."

Mark shrugs, wincing a bit. "I'll stay overnight. I don't have anything to do at home anyway." He pauses. "Could you do me a favour and get a note to my friend Angel, noting that I'm in here overnight in case anyone misses me?"

Guppy nods "Of course. What exactly would you like me to tell them?"

He prepares the painkillers. "Okay, slight scratch coming up." he says, although in reality he is very gentle, and Mark shouldn't feel much.

"I'm going to hang around and keep an eye on you once I've delivered your note, so if you want any more painkillers or anything just shout. Is there anything else I can get you?"

"Just let Angel know that I'm in the infirmary for the night. Angel knows that I was beaten up, so it'll be a relief to know I'm getting help." There's a tiny smile there. "And, really, I don't need anything else. I'm probably just going to fall asleep." To dream of racial bigotry and broken cameras.

Guppy nods. "Well I'll be on the sofa in the office if you need anything. I don't sleep heavily so just yell."

He gets a blanket and lays it gently over the battered man, before going to the desk and writing a note for Angel, which he goes into the bar to deliver. He comes back a few moments later, checks on Mark, then goes into the office.
Also to dream of racial bigotry no doubt.

It isn't long before Mark falls asleep. Fitfully, but it is sleep.

Guppy wakes himself up periodically to check on him and remains in the infirmary for the rest of the night.
