It is a quiet night at the infirmary, and Ben is taking advantage of that to study a bit,

Light is brought in by Scarlet.

He is still unconscious, concussed and generally battered, bruised all over his body and face, with three broken ribs and a badly broken arm.

Brought in is a good description: one moment, it is all quiet. The next, there is a battered guy on the nearest bed. "Aw, fuck..."

Surprised or not, Ben springs to action, getting up and slipping on latex gloves before checking the guy's vitals.

Light moves slightly when Ben starts prodding and poking him.

He is careful... okay, he could go calling for help, but... "You will thank me for this later, buddy." He will prepare a shot of anesthetics and tranquilizers, a dose just strong enough to put his patient to sleep.

The arm will have to be re-set, and it is better if he is not awake for it.

Light moans slightly. All he can feel right now is pain, and he has no idea where he is or what just happened.

Good night, lights out: funny how different Ben is doing medicine, calm, controlled and dedicated.

When Lights wake up, his arm is reset and in a splint, and his bruises are cleaned and treated. He was also dressed in an hospital gown and moved to lay on the broken rib side. In the past, it was common to tape or tightly wrap the injured rib area but even if it eases the pain it can also keep the injured person from taking deep breaths, and could cause parts of the lung to collapse or increase the risk of pneumonia. Laying on the injured side also helps breathing.

The IV drip has enough anesthetics to take the edge of the pain; Ben is sitting on a chair nearby with a book, waiting.

Light stirs slightly. His head feels very woozy, the rest of him feels like he's been run over by a steam roller.

He opens his eyes and looks at Ben, fear and pain in his expression.

"Heya. I'm Ben Winchester... you in the Infirmary." No sudden moves, letting the young man wake up properly first. "You were hurt, try to not move much for a bit, okay?"

"What infirmary?" Light asks, looking around and wishing he hadn't.

"What happened to me?"

"Milliways'." That might not help much. "The weird Bar that appears out of nowhere?"

Yes, right now moving his head would make the room spin and the demons of the underworld use his head as jungle drums.

The second part, figuratively.

He lies back, feeling dizzy and sick, and closes his eyes for a moment.

"Yes, I remember. There was a monster."

He nods. "Yeah, some weird types come to the Bar too. But no monsters here in the infirmary, and no permanent damage either."

"Thank you." Light says, woozily.

"I feel dizzy and sick."

"Yeah, you were hurt bad. One of the doctors will b around soon to double-check you, but for now..." Ben dims the lights a bit. "This should help."

"Thanks. I thought you were the doctor."

"Nah, nurse and paramedic. Try to rest a bit, okay? I will be back soon."
