"You've had major abdominal surgery." he says gently. "Your injuries were extensive, and potentially life threatening, but Doc and I stopped the bleeding and repaired the damage, and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't make a full recovery."
He has to tell her all this, even if it will frighten her.
"I would encourage you to sit up and take short walks around when you feel up to it, but it will be some time before you are fit enough to train properly, probably a month if you have no complications."
Kate listened to him, and frowned at the news. Granted she wasn't in tip top shape after the initial throwdown with the Skrulls, but this? Needed surgery?
"A month? Really? Wait, how did I get in here? Last I remember was shooting one of the Skrulls, and then getting hit."
"That's an estimate." Guppy says. "I'm not a surgeon by speciality. You were hit by a Skrull ray and were brought in by one of your teammates, Vision I think he said his name was. You weren't in a good way, but you're not in danger now."
He nods at the sleeping Will. "Will's been with you the whole time."
She kissed him back contently since that was one of the few parts of her that didn't feel sore. Kate's eyes closed and they remained close as she sank back more against the pillows, her breathing slowing to deep even breaths.

So he gives her a cheerful smile when he comes in to check on her.
"Hi Kate, how are you feeling?"
no subject
"Hi, and sore?" She glanced down.
"Uh what's with my hands?"

He puts on gloves, and gently peels back the pads. The skin looks better now, so he takes them off.
"Those look fine, go gentle on them for a few days."
no subject
Kate stared down, slowly flexing her fingers. Still stung.
"There goes practice." Though as long as she could still play and fight eventually, that was the important part.

She glanced over toward Will, who was still sleeping.
Soft rueful smile at her boyfriend, "Gonna hear about it later I'm sure. Probably worried the hell out of him."
no subject
"Anyway, try not to worry about that now, let's focus on you getting better. Do you need some more pain relief?"
no subject
Kate then grimaced, "Maybe a little? Pretty sore." There was twinging and cramping in places she didn't realize she had.
no subject
"You're still healing below the surface, though I sealed your wound up with the skin fuser so it wouldn't scar."
no subject
"Ok, thank you by the way. Looks like I owe you again."

"Still got a few lives left I guess. Wonder what I'm up to now."
no subject
He leans down and kisses her forehead.
