"Sit there on the first bed." Ben lets Gus hold the towel closed around the injured hand while he goes scrub up, put on gloves and get the right instruments.

"Is it really that bad?" he asks, in his scared voice.

The sword never made it back in its sheath.
"What happened?" she demands, even as she pushes open the infirmary door with her shoulder.

Step one, clean the wound again. Step two, local anesthetic and antiseptic.

"Two of them," he explains. "We were just playing blackjack, and they accused me of cheating. Next thing I know, my hand's tacked to the table!"

This is not the Dancing Dove.
First, she sheathes the sword and points at the injured hand. "I can fix that, if you wish." Beat. "Did they introduce themselves before they stabbed you?"

Funny, he's acting like he's the one who might get in trouble. In her experience, that usually means the person has done something to warrant the nerves.
She ends the spell with a "So mote it be" and releases his hand. It's not completely healed and might still scar, but both the pain and the wound are significantly reduced.
"Would you feel differently if I hadn't been able to numb it?" Then, not giving him a chance to answer, "If you want to press charges, as I think you should, point them out to the security officer on duty should you see them again. Explain that they are due cell time for stabbing you. My name is Alanna, and I'll leave word with the others. Anytime you want to pass along more information, you can leave me a note with Bar."
Straightening, she sends Ben a smile.
