(no subject)

The relative calm of the infirmary is shattered as Guppy and O'Dell bring in a badly injured Sooraya.

"Did you see what happened?" Guppy asks as he places a clean gauze over the first wound, applying pressure. With his other hand, he's already reaching for the scanner.

[ooc: Sooraya-mun, what are her exact injuries?]

"She just..." The dean pauses to catch his breath and his bearings. He didn't even know there was a doctor's office here, let alone one this high tech. "She came through the door in a huge cloud of dust. Like a sandstorn. And then the sand...vanished? And she was there. And that's all I saw."

Sooraya's heartbeat is slow, but regular, and her lips are faintly bluish. Skin's icy to the touch. She still shows no signs of reviving.
All things considered probably just as well.

Examination shows three visible wounds to her upper body, the worst of them being the one that Guppy's already working on. The remaining two are placed slightly higher and central.
The scanner shows exit and entry wounds, but only for two out of the three.

Someone's appeared in the doorway behind them. Kevin had had another purpose in mind, being here. He goes still. Doesn't swear, despite his expression turning coldly furious for a second as he sees who's on the table.
His voice is flat as he asks only, "Doctor Sandhu. Do you need help?"
He can see Sooraya's in very poor shape, and if another pair of hands is needed, he can't even guess.
Arguments or not, this is one of his friends lying there. He doesn't waste time demanding to know what the hell happened, not now.

The dean has been doing what he can, and calmly. But he doesn't mind letting someone else take over so he can catch his breath.

He's also sure that something about the woman looks familiar.

"Is that Sooraya?" No way to be sure. He's only seen her eyes, but he has a hunch.

In Kevin's case, he's seen her minus the veils, so even with an age difference of a few years he'd likely be able to recognize her. There's also the 'X' badge pinned to her right sleeve. Dust is the only Muslim X-Man, which does make i.d.ing her a little simpler for people from her world.

She twitches slightly, her breathing a little faster, as he speaks.
A familiar voice registers with her, even in her current condition.

Kevin yanks on the gloves, noting that they're synthetic, and quickly tucks the cuffs into his sleeves. He moves over to take Dean's place with a nod, following the doctor's directions.

After they're done, he looks up at Guppy's question and smiles wryly.
He reaches out and takes Sooraya's left hand in his, turning it over.
There are a couple of old, odd-shaped scars there, one almost triangular, marking her wrist.

"Between this, and the badge--" he points to her left sleeve, where a round patch embossed with an X is pinned--"Yeah. I'm sure."

If O'Dell mentions the 'sand cloud', too, that'd be extra confirmation. Sooraya's powers were unique to her.

After watching all of this, the dean backs away a bit. And now feels the somewhat overwhelming sense of having been helping with surgery.

"I'm okay." And in need of a drink.

Kevin spares him a brief look, sizing him up. "Thanks," he says after a moment. "If you're going to faint or feel sick, sit down," he adds calmly. It's not an insult, just a suggestion. "We don't need two of you falling over." He looks over at Sooraya and sighs.
"X-Men's luck strikes again..." it's said almost inaudibly.

He snags a chair, pulling it over to sit. His demeanor suggests he's not moving.

Ye-ahh. They're going to start charging Sooraya rent if she doesn't watch out. Just kidding, but really...well.
She'd thank Guppy and O'Dell, but there's that whole 'out cold' thing.
