Hobbling into the infirmary is easier said than done even with Brian's help . Mostly due to the fact that one of his boots is missing, but the fact that each step he takes seems to make a bloody foot print on the floor. Thus the reason that Gene is trying his best not to fully walk with his left leg when it's possible and leaning against the man that's offered to help him. The result is a little hobbling, a little jumping, and some flat out limping. Walking with one good leg isn't as easy as it is in the movies.
"...find a bed tha's empty. They got a call button or anythin' 'round here?" the medic asks as he glances at Brian looking a little paler than when he first entered into the bar.

No going cross-eyed yet, Gene! "You seem t' know what yous doin. Medic or somethin?" the question is asked mostly out of curiosity combined with the fact of trying to ignore the burning wounds.

"Evening, gents. I'm on the staff here. Can you tell me what happened?"

Sliding onto the nearest empty bed when he can't stand anymore the man groans a little and tries his best to hold his leg up. "Huh..yous probably get along with Talbert then too. He was a cop in Kokomo 'fore joinin the Airborne." Then there is a pause, a very slight pause as he tries to tighten the bandage around his lower leg. "Cali any different in 2001 than it is in 1944?"
When Malcolm enters Gene turns his head enough to study the man. "Barbwire. Didn't see it till 'bout seven of us got tangled in it. Blood drips onto the bed below a few drops at a time from around the almost soaked WWII style bandage.

He nods at Gene. "We've had worse in here. Let me take a look."
Malcolm's technique is smooth and professional. He's had more practice at this sort of thing in Milliways than he cares to admit.
"Damn. This is why I hate barbwire."

When Gene can no longer sit up he slumps back to the bed rubbing at his eyes again before going back to watching. "I gots morphine, sizzuhs, thread, needles, an anything else in m' packs if yous needs them."

"Ok, hang on, I'm going to shift your leg slightly so I can work on it."
Malcolm has it done before he finishes the sentence. Quick and direct.
Malcolm also nods at Brian. He can tell what the man is trying to do and is all for him keeping it up.

"2001..1999...makin me feel old here, fellows.." the medic says with a weak laugh.

He doesn't think Gene would be as interested in liquor and cigarettes as George so Will just moves slowly to the infirmary, searching for Gene.
There's a grimness to him, its been a hard few weeks and he's got two cracked ribs, he's doing his best to ignore so Gene won't worry, "What 'appened, Gene?"
no subject
"This? Ah..just ran indo some German fencing wonders from WWI. Nothin to bad." Which is a boldfaced lie- he's paler than usual but the medications are making him pretty happy.
no subject
Will knows of wooden fences but nothing that would be quite that bad and moves slowly over debating sitting down in the chair, sitting and standing both still hurt.

He finally decides that sitting won't be too bad and carefully sits down, hiding the grimace fairly well.

Trying his best to sit up a little more seems to almost make him go cross-eyed leaving him staying in the slightly inclined position. "It ain't th' best of things t' tell the truth. 's gonna keep me off th' line for more than I had hoped for."
no subject
Will's not hiding that he's hurt, he's just trying to play it down since Gene's already hurt and he really would rather not add to his friend's load.
no subject
Grunting a little he manages to finally sit up enough to not be looking at Will from an angle. It's a little of a struggle but he's got to get on his feet soon and back to Holland.

On his side, there's a round bruise and if Gene knows the signs, Will's got two cracked ribs and just a nasty looking bruise from a moving ball of metal on a chain, "Tis 'ere an 'urts if I move too quickly an bendin' isna good."
When Gene moves to sit up, Will helps with a hand on his back.
no subject
With a hand he motions towards the wall in the general direction of the button. "Do it or I will."
no subject
"Pressed it, Gene."

"Hey. Thought you might want this back."

How odd is it to be sentimental with boots? Things were easier back in Georgia..it's why most of his friends didn't want the new boots that had been issued out before the jump into Holland. "Th' wait staff still mad at me for havin t' clean up?

"Nah. 'M sure they've seen worse."
