Zhaan is in the office studying anatomical charts when she hears someone enter the infirmary. She stands up, putting the medical charts away, goes to the door, and looks out. There's a young human male and a young...well, humanoid woman, of a species Zhaan hasn't seen before. "Hello," she greets them, "How may I assist you?"

Zhaan feels overwarm herself, and queasy, and a little strange. But that's not her, that's Midna. This is like what occurs when she shares a person's pain, but she's never done it without going into a trance first. She drops her mental shield, the better to explore this strange phenomenon further. As she does, Ben's worry for Midna brushes on her awareness - something not intense enough to be felt through the shield, but perfectly evident without it.
She finds herself tracing Midna's discomfort, trying to find the source. The blood and energy in her body seem to be flowing...abnormally. The balance of hormones is wrong. No, not wrong, exactly. Just geared up for something unusual, but still part of the natural process.
Something snaps Zhaan back to reality, and she pulls her hand away from Midna's frowning slightly. She wonders how much time has passed, although it doesn't seem to have been more than a microt, if that. "A feeling of fever and nausea," Zhaan says, paraphrasing the symptoms Ben told her about. "Do you feel anything else unusual? Have you experienced a change in appetite, perhaps?"

With a light sigh, she glances tiredly down at her hands in her lap, "I have been feeling tired as well. Tired and nauseous."

Zhaan checks the thermometer on Midna's forehead. "You said you have been feeling nauseous, and yet you had a good appetite. And you have not been so nauseous you were unable to keep your food down." The readout on the thermometer doesn't seem to be changing now: the color indicator has gone as far as it will go. "Hm. You do not have a fever," Zhaan observes. "I doubt this is due to a stomach virus."

"A strange appetite, but yes, one where I can keep my meals down." she frowns softly, "And I do not see how I could not have a fever. I feel warmer than usual."

Wordlessly, Midna slides off of the edge of the bed and walks into the small bathroom. Closing the door behind her.

The Princess gives the small plastic wand to Zhaan as she takes a seat on the bed again. Looking up at the doctor expectantly.

Two blue stripes. Just as she thought.
She smiles at Midna. "As I thought. You are with child." Her smile broadens a little, although she knows that this certainly wasn't planned on the couple's part, and is going to be complicated for both of them.
But they're going to have to live with it. And she can help them start by encouraging them to treat their coming child as a blessing, not a burden. "Congratulations."

But let's wait and see...

She glances down at her stomach as she places a hand on her tummy. "I will... have a child?"

Ladies and gentlemen, Ben's brain has left the building.

She frowns as she bites the corner of her lip, concerned, "Are you, alright Ben?"

Not that it's going to erase Ben's anxiety. But she hopes it will make him face it more rationally.

You have to forgive him, it's his first time being a parent.

She nods, "I would love to look through his book. And hopefully, we can find the next step to take now."
