Overnight, Under Observation

[OOC: Millitimed to the evening after this and then this.]

So YT's in the infirmary overnight for observation, in case her brain decides to swell up or bleed or something. Great. Just great.

There's someone in the other, curtained bed, but they seem to be asleep or out. YT got that kung fu chick (whose name she still doesn't know) to give the Bar a note that she hopes will be passed on to anyone who might worry about her. For now, she's alone and worried about the possibility that if she goes to sleep, she's not going to wake up again. Or at least that she won't wake up the same.

She sits on her bed, kicking her feet and twiddling her thumbs. It's gonna be a long night.

Merlin got the note, and comes in, looking for her. When he sees her, there is concern and relief in his eyes. He hurries to her side, as much as he ever hurries, and one hand reaches out for one of hers, lifting it to his lips.

"My lady... "

YT barely gives Merlin a break between kissing her hand and then her lips. Although he probably doesn't mind.

After they come up for air, she says (a little breathlessly), "You got my note from Bar, I guess?"

He nods, also a little breathless, and raises a hand to gently touch her face.

"How do you feel?"

Concern is in his voice and eyes as he sits next to her, one arm automatically(somehow it became that way) going around her back.

"I'm okay. I fell over and hit a rock with my head." She chuckles. "It split my scalp but the doc used something called a skin fuser on it, so I don't even need stitches. But he wants me to stay here overnight, in case I did something bad that doesn't show up until later." YT sighs and leans against Merlin, taking his free hand and holding it in her own. "Maybe I should've just let the demon bunny bite me. I fell trying to get away from it."

He shakes his head.

"No, flight was the correct choice, I think. Even with the result. It just means I shall have to spoil you some..."

The look he gives her is warm and he kisses her again.

YT grins. "Yeah, but real five-star spoiling will have to wait 'till later," she says. "I'm supposed to be out tomorrow morning."

"And by the way, I didn't just run away from that rabbit. I shot it with the bundy stunner. Served it right. But it's kind of stupid, you know, that I didn't hurt myself climbing the rocks out of the lake or when I did that Tarzan swing in the trees. I was playing tag," she explains, "with this girl I met. I don't know what her name is, though, because she doesn't talk much."

He nods, that familiar respect in his eyes.

"You are warrior and Bard."

Then he chuckles.

"Sometimes, the worst happenings are the greatest accidents. Fate is a fickle Mistress."

YT likes that Merlin can still respect her even after she's done something stupid and generally embarrassing. "I had fun, though. Up until hitting my head." She sighs. "Maybe I should ask her to teach me that ninja stuff she does so I can just karate-chop the demon bunny next time."

He smiles, then rubs his face.

"I was trying, once, to impress my teacher, by showing him I had learned a particularly impressive and hard spell. It was going well when I decided to try to improvise. I could see in my head, exactly how it would go. I did the movements, I did the words, exactly right. Only thing is, I forgot that I was standing on a hillside. One wrong step and I was rolling, head over heels, down the hill, all the way into a creek. I skinned my hands up fairly badly and wasn't able to learn or practice at all for weeks.

He smiles at her.

"We all fail, or do foolishg things sometimes."

Belle is woken up by the hubub next to her, but stays silent until the visitors have all left. "Wondered who Merlin was talkin' 'bout."

She might not have been talking to anyone in particular.

"Huh?" YT's a little startled. She turns and looks at the curtained bed next to her, where she can just make out the silhouette of a person moving. "Um, hi. Sorry if we woke you up." YT feels kind of embarrassed, because whoever it is back there heard her being uncharacteristically cutesy.

"Nah, it's fine. Sleep's a lil too dear at de moment, anyway."

Yeah, she's 2-0 in the finding shit out department. Too bad she's a little crazy right now.

"Okay," YT says kind of slowly, not really getting that. "So you know Merlin, I guess?"

"Oui. I know Merlin."

She's trying not to be smug. "Friend o' mine. What's y' name, petite?"

Tact is such a lovely thing.

YT's not sure she likes being called 'petite,' but she's not going to argue with and stress out someone who seems to be in a worse way than she is. "Name's YT," she says. "Merlin and I are, um, together. But I guess you kind of noticed anyway."

"Jes' a bit. I'm Belladonna. Pleased t' meecha."

YT? Well, people named after poisons shouldn't throw stones, after all. "Whacha in f'r?"

"Observation, because I banged my head," YT says. "It bled like crazy but now it seems to be okay." Pause. "What about you?"

"Hey," Hiro says as he walks in. "So is it not serious at all, or just not too serious?"

"Well, my brains weren't leaking out, and the doctor says they probably aren't going to," YT reassures him. "He even used this nifty thing called a skin fuser to fix it up, so I didn't need staples or something. But I have to stay here for observation, just in case."

"Good idea, skin fuser or no skin fuser. So, you fell down and hit your head? You didn't actually get specific about that in the note. I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you weren't on your plank at the time."

"No, I was on just my feet, so it was even dumber," YT says sourly. "I was playing tag in the forest and I guess we got a little too far in. This demon bunny tried to jump me and things kind of got confused. And, y'know, there's all those roots you can trip over." She rolls her eyes.

"That wouldn't have been a problem for the smartwheels, obviously. On the other hand, if you were playing tag, it wouldn't be fair to the other guy — the other person? — if you'd been on the board, so..." Shrug.

"...And a demon bunny attacked you? Yeah, I'd say you got a little too far into the forest. Obviously, you got out with your toes, but even so."

YT shrugs. "Last time I met one, I just got it with the Liquid Knuckles. But this one kind of surprised me. I nailed him with a bundy stunner, though." She mimes aiming and shooting a gun. "So I think he got it worse than I did."

This elicits a dry chuckle. "Sounds like it to me. The other person must have been all right, enough to help you get here anyway. So who was it, so I can thank them?"

YT shrugs. "I don't know her name. She doesn't talk. She's about yea high, with short black hair, and she knows some kind of mad kung fu or something."
