He had set off slowly in search of a cup of tea. Then decided he really ought to visit the cat. Then once he was up there he decided to have a bath, because having survived being beaten to a pulp there was no way he was going to sit and gradually die from lack of hygeine.
Unfortunately he forgot that going downstairs was going to hurt just as much as going upstairs. By the time he is back at the bed, it's very sore.
Which is why the muscle in his abdomen that was threatening to go into spasm yesterday decides to actually go into spasm now. The cup of tea falls to the ground and smashes as he cries out in pain and collapses to the floor, bent double. He gasps and tries not to pass out with the pain.
Stupid muscle. I know you can't keep that up forever.
He pulls himself up onto the bed, curls into a little ball and mentally starts counting to three hundred. Backwards. In French.

"Guppy?" He would ask if Guppy is all right, but that would rank among the dumber things he could ask.

"Hey."

[ooc: Guessing that Amanda's going to find Hank as well, if she has by the time you get back you might want to join the thread below.]

He is clearly in agony.

There are beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Amanda, do you think you could find Hank please."

"No luck, Guppy.
"I hate to ask this, but do you now how the diagnostics on the bed work?"

"How's the rest of you doing," he asks in what he wants to be a conversational voice.

He curls around it, looking smaller than normal even.
"Still very sore but I'm stuffed up to the eyeballs with painkillers so it isn't as bad."

Her entire focus is on Guppy and Hank at the moment that she doesn't even notice Barry yet.

Guppy uncurls as much as he can and looks up at Hank.
"Thanks for coming. Hope you're not too busy."
no subject
"We'll talk later. I don't want to get in Hank's way."

He still has his hand to his side, clutching the hot water bottle tightly. There is a little blood seeping through his shirt from a wound being reopened by the spasm.
no subject
"Guppy, my friend. You are trying single handedly to keep the Infirmary in business?"
he gently pats he other man's shoulder.
"That painkiller and muscle relaxant should kick in any second now and then you will feel a little dizzy but no nausea."
(ooc: the internet is giving me fits, cutting in and out.)

As the muscle relaxes he takes a couple of deeper breaths to make up for the last few minutes. Then he leans back down flatter, trying to get his head to stabilise again. He looks rather pale.
"I can do the dressing if you're busy."

She looks to Hank to see if he minds her doing it.

He does so, placing a small compound of annysthetic and healing agent againstt he wound after cleaning it, and then nods to Amanda.
"Okay, now hold him steady. Guppy, this is going to hurt, but do your best not to tense, that will make it hurt worse."

Then Hank stanas back and watches Guppy, his eyes worried as he monitors his friend and the readings at the same time.
"Now how does it feel?"
no subject
"Like fire."
He takes a few more slow deep breaths and tries not to pass out.

"Yes. He can handle food and drinks okay, even if he should go light for the next day or so on ehavy foods, but yes, tea should be fine."
He rests his hand softly on Guppy's shoulder.
"Hang in there my friend."

Just as the soothing coolness is about to kick in, the little black spots merge, his eyes close and his head drops against Hank's hand.

he sighs.
"He should be okay when he wakes up, better than he was now, anyway. thje painkiller and the muscle relaxant will last for a number of hours."
no subject
"Sorry. I'll not bother with the personal hygeine for a few days."
no subject
In fact most people that know him and have found out about the attack want to go hurt, maime, or kill those punks.
no subject
"We can hook up something down here, so you can feel clean and still have privacy too, but you must rest for a few days, to let yourself start to heal."
He gently pokes Guppy in an unbruised area.
"You know all of this Doctor. I know it is frustrating but you have to try."
no subject
He looks a little down. Which is hardly surprising.
Can't even go for a bath without getting into trouble. I'm completely dependent on everyone else around me for even the tiniest thing, being a burden to them all. Can't even cope with a bit of pain without passing out. I'm so weak.
When I get out of here there's going to be some serious prosecution.

"Within a few days you will be up and moving and able to fend fro yourself. And then maybe you should get some physical training. Not to puit too fine a point on it, but your area seems a bit violent. Mayhap, it is time for you to learn how to deal with that. Your decisions but soemthing to think about."

"I asked Aeryn before, but she can't teach me anything that won't get me arrested. I have to be careful. The last doctor that fought back went down for manslaughter for a few months before winning her appeal. The justice system is not always just back home. But yes, I think it is a good idea."

"And I can help you with a little buit of learning how to take down someone larger than you, and how to take a hit and roll with it. Thinmgs you can do to buy time and defend yourself and not end up damaging the other person."
He smiles wryly.
"When I was young I was awkward and ungainly. I had a lot to learn ndn we all ahve to learn soemtime."
no subject
He doesn't feel that he deserves it somehow, but perhaps that particular feeling is so deeply embedded that he never could.
He lies back and closes his eyes, feeling woozy from the painkillers.
no subject
"I'll let you rest now. But I will be back tomorrow."
no subject
"Rest now, Guppy and sleep if you can. I'll be here if you need anything."
And then he starts quietly tapping his soundless keys on his laptop, working on a small tub design.
