After everything, the following morning is fun -- testing Kaylee's range of motion, doing other tests -- cardiac MRI, transesophageal echocardiogram, bloodwork.
The afternoon is spent sleeping.
Simon's gone off to sleep, and Kaylee's close to waking up.
Visitors are apparently -- according to the good doctor -- allowed.

Mal leaves the music box beside Kaylee before turning, attempting to be quiet, again toward the door.
Thud.
That would be Mal walking straight into a stool by accident, and he bites his lip to keep from cursing aloud.

Her head turns a little on the pillow, and she smiles.
"Hey, captain." It's a little drawn out. A little...well, drugged.
They've been here before.

"Hey, meimei." Smiling a tight smile, Mal moves again to her bedside, a little slowly - that stool hurt.
"How're you?"

Beaming, now, because there's nothing else to do.
"See? I'm all considerate and such now."

Two familiar faces, actually.
Wash has been hovering there for almost a minute, uncertain whether or not to come back later, when Naomi takes the intiative to let out a squeaky babyshout as she wriggles in her sling.

Kaylee's eyes open.
"That two people, or did somebody get real smart real fast and learn to crawl?" It's a little weak.
no subject
Naomi interrupts him with another squeak.
Wash drops his voice back to a normal pitch and tells her in a stage whisper, mock-whining, "Naomiiii. You're ruining the illusion!"
no subject
Breathing after you weren't, for a while, is a little rough.
"Come on in." Still weakly.

It's hard for her to muster a really stern look on good days.
This is very, very far from being a good day.

Setting down the tray, and stepping closer: "How're you feeling?"
no subject
"I'm okay."
She hasn't learned to answer specifically yet.

Then -- hands falling from the doorframe to her sides -- she moves into the room.
She's not trying to walk quietly, and she's wearing her boots. The footsteps are soft, but they're audible.
She settles very carefully on the end of the bed, watching Kaylee intently.
no subject
"Hey." Hazily, with a hazy smile.

A pause, and then he crosses the few steps to stand near to the end of Kaylee's bed.
Perhaps it is just the position he's standing in, coupled with the way the infirmary's lights are arranged overhead...but his unruly white hair seems to have a bit of a glow to it, a faint corona illuminating his head from behind.

Consequently, Kaylee's are rather wide, rather quickly.
"...Daniel?"
no subject
'I'm afraid not.' He blinks a bit, concerned and watchful. 'My apologies, Kaylee -- I did not mean to startle you.'
no subject
All right.
"Hey." Sounding, too, as though she's trying to orient herself. "No, it's -- I'm fine."
And she should have known better, really. Daniel...doesn't come in Milliways.

She reaches out and gently brushes a lock of hair away from Kaylee's face, then turns to leave.

"Hey, 'Nara." With a smile -- just a little bit drugged.
no subject
"Hey, sweetie. How are you feeling?"
She reaches for Kaylee's hand.
