And Cain wakes, surfacing like a man drowning who breaks from the water. He gasps even as he sits up in bed, disoriented and confused as his mind races a mile a minute. Memory washes across him, like waves over a rising island and he shudders.
He cries out, hurting all over, even as the pain fades and lethargy returns. His eyes search frantically for Molly as he reaches for the IV's and wires on him. He is in the Infirmary. How did he get here?
"Molly? Molly!!"
His voice is a croak, rough. But he cries it out as his eyes find her laying so still on the bed next to him ad his heart stops.
Is she....

"Cain?"
She rubs blearily at her eyes for a moment, disoriented. When she opens them, and see's him awake...
"Cain!"
The coil that has been wound so tightly in her chest begins to loosen at the sight of him with his eyes open, and tears for relief spring to her eyes.
She's off of the bed in an instant, getting slightly tangled in the same robes she's been wearing since her parent's funeral three days ago. Then she's launching herself at him in joy.
"You're awake!"

"I missed you, and thought you were dead, and here you are, and God, but you look beautiful. are you okay? I love you, I love you. I love you."
He pulls her close and kisses her long again.
no subject
"I thought you were--I didn't know what to think."
Her hands are on his cheeks, and she eases back to examine his face, his eyes, and lets the stubble on his cheeks tickle her hands.
"I'm so glad you're all right! Do you hurt anywhere? Do you need anything?"
no subject
"I'm okay. I feel great and you feel great and God... I have been... I hurt and then there was darkness and then I saw myself and..."
He looks at her and he smiles softly, kissing her.
"I remember."

"Everything. My memory is back, Molly. My memory is back."
He kisses her again, a hitn of tears in his eyes. He breathes her in, feeling whole again.

She pulls him even closer, burying her face against his neck.
"It's a miracle!" she whispers. "I can't believe it! I was just beginning to accept that you wouldn't rembmer." Not in her lifetime.
Her expression clouds for a moment... what will this mean for them? Then clears. He loves her. Even with his memory back, he says he loves her. The rest will work itself out in time.
"I love you."
no subject
"Everything. All of it."
He buries his face in her shoulder, breathing her in.
"I love you so much."
The words are intense and powerful.

Finally, regretfully, Molly eases back and rests her forehead against his.
"I'm going to need to go back home soon. My brothers... I brought you back here when you were hit by the curse. I don't know what happened there after I left. I used a gate way to bring you back, so time is passing there."
no subject
"Just let me get myself together and I will go with you."
He smiles softly at her, one arm around her.
"We can do whatever you need to do."
He grins.
"And now that I remember things, It will be interesting to see how the two worlds truly compare."
He is almost bubbly.
no subject
"I didn't mean that we have to go right now."
But she loves him for his willingness to do so.
"But soon. In the next day or two. I'm sure Dr. Guppy or Dr. McCoy will want to look you over to make sure you're all right. And you haven't eaten in three days."
Truth be told, Molly's hardly eaten, either. She is looking forward to a shower and a change of clothes now that she knows he is safe.
no subject
"Can I get out of these wires and things? I want to eat and be with you and... walk."
He takes a large breath and grins at her.
"I feel more alive than I have ever been."
no subject
She holds onto his hands tightly, not wanting to let him go.
"I'm glad. There's so much...now that you remember, you might want to do some damage control from our trip to your world."
She is thinking of the specatcle she made of herself at his company.
Then out of the blue, she asks: "Are you allergic to cats?"
no subject
"I am proud of you. Most people plunged into that kind of situation will be far more insane. You merely made understandable mistakes. It will be fine."
He smiles at her, then blinks.
"No. Why?"
Before she can answer, Hank comes along, and smiles as he sees Cain awake.
"Hello, Cain. How are you feeling?"
He is checking the sensors on the monitor as he speaks.
Cain blinks a bit, then nods.
"I am okay, I feel invigorated."
Hank nods as he looks over from the monitor.
"You are, remarkably, completely healed."
no subject
"So he can go?"
She squeezed Cain's hand excitedly.
no subject
"There is no medical reason why not. I would ask you to come in within a week, to let me run a few comparison tests, to make sure you arte completely healed. But, other than that, I think it is safe to let you go."
He comes over and begins unhooking Cain. Cain watches curiously.
"Thank you, Doctor. Thank you very much."
Hank nods.
"Just be careful rising and walking for a few hours. And stay to soft foods for a few hours as well. Your body has been laying down and on iv nutrients for three days."
Cain nods and Hank smiles.
"Be well, you two."
Then he makes his way back to the office to finish the paperwork on this one.
no subject
"You can go!"
She bends to pick up her cloak, and his gun belt and sword from where they'd been piled on the floor against the wall.
"Do you want to eat first? Or just go home?"
no subject
He opens his mouth to reply, but his stomach does it for him as it rumbles loudly.
He laughs.
no subject
She takes his hand and walks slowly with him out of the infirmary.
The next few days will be hard, but with him by her side, she'll be just fine.
