A posted note!
Just inside the infirmary:
Dear colleagues:
Some of you I know, some of you I don't, but I wanted to tell you about an interesting conversation I recently had with Agatha Clay.
If you haven't met her, Agatha is a very skilled inventor of machines she calls 'clanks.' The best way I can describe them is to say they are a kind of robot with the ability to carry out programmed commands efficiently and carefully.
When I saw what they were capable of doing, I asked Agatha if it would be possible to build a clank that could carry out basic medical support procedures: resupplying cabinets, going to fetch needed instruments during operations, and the like. Given how often we're asked to perform first aid (or more) without the aid of a nurse or a colleague, I thought an on-duty med-clank stationed in the infirmary might be a valuable resource for all of us.
Agatha has created a prototype clank which she would be happy to demonstrate for us. I told her I would consult with you and see if the medical staff thought the idea worth exploring. Please feel free to offer your reactions here. And, of course, I would be happy to discuss the matter with any of you at your convenience.

Excellent idea, although I must say sometimes it would be useful to have an extra pair of hands that can also think. My point being does anyone know what happened to the list of infirmary staff that Barry had?
What would be really useful is if we had a list of people who are medically qualified, along with what times they are likely to be around. For example I tend to be around in the evening GMT, whereas Malcolm tends to be around when I'm already in bed. If we had some sort of contact list then we might have more hope of finding assistance in case of an emergency situation where in a hospital environment it would be normal to have five or six people working on or around a patient.
Other than that, yes, I think that would be a good idea. Better just make sure we don't offend our friendly infirmary waitrat Aesclepius in the process, since he has been working hard in here.

And I don't want to discourage Aesclepius! The way I see it, this clank could stand in when he's not able to, and give us extra support if we're facing multiple casualties.

The medical roster? It should still be in the folder in the drawer by the main supply cabinet.

OOC NOTE ON THE MEDICAL ROSTER
I should probably do something about that, huh?]

And yeah, he might have the list somewhere -- I'll check it out in the morning.]

If he's anything like me he's probably got it scribbled on the back of an old envelope near the computer.]

Sounds a pretty good idea to me. Anything that might be helpful, and all.

Malcolm,
I am particularly unaware of any sort of technology outside what would be available around Great War-era Egypt, but provided I could be shown the proper instruction and given some time to get used to the innovation, I would most certainly be willing to give it a try.

From what Agatha has said, programming the clank shouldn't be too difficult. They apparently pick things up very quickly.
We'll probably all need time to get used to it, but I don't suppose a med-clank would be much stranger than anything else we deal with here.

I have to say I'm a little dubious about the idea, but I'd certainly be willing to see a demonstration. If it works, it could be very useful to the infirmary staff.

I'll talk to Agatha about arranging a demonstration for us.
