Hank is in the Infirmary working on priming a new Monitor. These early mornings are killers, but helping people is what he does. Especially when he is avoiding the situation back on Earth.

"Hey, Beast."

"Oh my stars and garters... what happened?"
Even as he says it he is motioning her to bring the stretchers in and moving to three beds, stripping sheets back and setting up monitors.

"I fear you are right. Might I get permission to see to him there after I am done doing what I can for them, here?"
He began moving Zuko to a bed, and then hooked both Zuko and Steph up with IVs, scanning each one slowly, making sure he knew exactly what was wrong before acting.
"Severe burns and shock... he glances up, makes calculations. But the pattern is odd... was there something shielding them partially?"

And she looks more worried, now. Under the burns, now that she knows, she can see that it is the young lonely boy she'd been talking to yesterday. He hadn't seemed the type to murder at all.

But she does leave Steph's side, albeit to take Billy stretcher in one hand. "You can come in any time, Hank. This isn't like him, right?"
She just needs to make sure.

"Not even close. Even after the break up he was more depressed and likely to hurt himself than them. That is both my personal and professional opinion."
He sighs and shakes his head as he starts IVs full of nutrients and healing actives on both.
"I dont know what might have caused this."
His voice sounds suddenly very tired.

"I'd like to stay here with them, for a while, Doctor."
Electrical injury can lead to neurological damage; these kids are too young to be brain-damaged, not when she could save them that.
"I'm a Healer, in my world. I've - I've done what I could, repairing the damage, but there was ... quite a lot. I'm not sure your Muggle technology has the same capabilities as I do."
no subject
"You are more than welcome to stay. When they wake up, we can ask them what if any advanced healing with technology or magic they desire. Until then, we can make sure they will wake up and get better with what I have done here."
no subject
To Lily, the ethics are clear - you heal first, and ask permission later.

She'll wait until Steph wakes.

And if the ambient temperature of his hand is any indication, he's brought ice cream.
no subject
And after her head tilts in to his hand, rubbing her cheek into him, she smiles up, glad he's here.
"Hey."
no subject
He says holding out the pint of ice cream like a six year old would flowers to his mother.
no subject
Hug first, ice cream later.
"Knew I could rely on you."
no subject
He doesn't need any further prompting than that. Dropping down to one knee, he wraps his arms around her and holds her tight.

"How're you holding up?"
no subject
"Been through worse."
He knows that. "Just don't want her waking up alone."
no subject
It doesn't sound like he's going anywhere anytime soon.
"Do you need anything, you know besides a spoon?"

She's very still, all her customary grace and vibrance gone, swallowed up by the sterile surroundings.

What next? she thinks, brushing Steph's hair away from her face.
