The Infirmary is quiet, save for a subdued beeping noise from a few of the monitors. Beds stand ready and equipment if freshly cleaned and organized. The wide space of the Infirmary is mostly uninhabited these days, save for a few patients where the curtain is drawn around the bed.

He almost asks Hank if he knows what drugs are in Angie's system, but stops himself, seeing the worried expression on Kim's face. Better if he asks Hank later, in private. He's not sure he wants Kim to hear the answer.

"I...I can't..."
It's too hard.
Her eyes roll back into her head and her breath stops, her lips slightly parted, her body going completely slack.
no subject
"She's in respiratory arrest! Jack, start breaths. Every two, stop and listen to see if there is any sound. Kim, here's my keys. Behind this monitor a drug cabinet, get me the hypospray marked Zefellin. Go!"
He tosses the keys to Kim and immediately moves Angela's head into position and places a stehtoscope on her shirt. He listens for breath sounds and curses as he hears none.

The cold metal against her fingers brings her back to reality and she runs to the cabinet, the key missing the hole once because her hands keep trembling, but she gets it open and finds the hypospray.
She goes back to Hank and hands him the Zefellin, heart racing, unable to stop looking at Angie and her Dad performing CPR without the compressions and no...no...this can't...

One. Two. Check for breathing.
He's had to perform CPR and mouth-to-mouth so many times in his work that he doesn't need to think about what to do; a good thing, as he can't think about anything right now, if he's going to keep the panic from taking over.
One. Two. Check for breathing.
Not think about the fact that this is his granddaughter.
One. Two. Check for breathing.
Not think about who did this to her, about the fact that he'd like to strangle Ramon, watch him desperately gasp for air.
One. Two. Check for breathing.
Definitely not think about the possibility that she might not make it.
One. Two. Check for breathing.

He's a killer, not a healer.
Still, he's watching and listening. Very carefully. It's oddly fascinating.

Come on, Angela.... come on...

"What is it? What's going on? Where am I..."
Her voice is still so small.

"You're in the infirmary at Milliways. It's all right, sweetheart, you're safe," he says, softly.
no subject
"Angie, baby, you're here with us and Hank and you're going to be okay," She whispers, holding back tears. She opens her mouth to say something else, but the words get lost and instead she gives her hand a gentle squeeze.
"Like Grandpa said -- you're safe now."
no subject
"Yeah, everything's all right now. You'll be fine." He doesn't sound as certain as he'd like, but he hates doing this sort of thing, especially with an audience.

She doesn't remember how she got here, why she was so frightened a moment ago, or what's gone on before.
But if they tell her she's safe, she's safe. And now...she's too tired to think anymore. She smiles briefly, but it doesn't stay long. "Okay."
And then she's asleep.
no subject
"She's asleep. Now, I can get to work. Lady and gentlemen, if you will give me a bit of room?"
He moves to her side and checks her vitals by hand, then runs a inch by inch scan with the scanner, from head to foot. His sweep takes in every inch. Then he stands by the monitor, pulling out equipment, and speaks, watching each of them as he sets up dual IV's
"She will be okay, but she is goingf to need extensive fluids nd nutrients and some medicine. She will need to be in here for at least a day, maybe as much as three, and then bed rest at home for at least two to three more days, at least. She needs quiet and calmness. Kim, have you any medical training?"
He is in doctor mode, excuse him if he skips a few steps.

'She'll be okay.'
She's startled by the question, "No -- I-I've taken care of my Dad and I can Heal very minor..."
no subject
no subject
"Ah, well, this requires a lady's touch. Kim, I need you to do something. As you can see, Angela is vcery... dirty and while the scanners dont show anything else wrong, her condition will affect her. I have the water and soap and material needed, but will you give her a bed bath? I think she would prefer it if you did it. I can give you instruction on the medical points of it, before you start."
"Meanwhile, Jack and this young man can help me outside the privacy curtain to bring another bed closer and bring some chairs nearby." I assume one or more of you might want to stay."

But his head snaps up at Kim's question, eyes angry. "They did, they're dead."
no subject
"I don't think so, sweetheart. We'll step out, let you have some privacy. Hank, can I talk to you in private for a minute?" he asks, stepping outside the privacy curtain.
no subject
"You will do fine."
He steps outside the area and draws the curtain all the way around the bed area, then turns to Jack.
no subject
"Can you tell what kind of drugs she was given?"
no subject
no subject
"Okay. Were there any signs of...anything other than you mentioned in there?" he asks.
no subject
"The scan made sure there was none. She was not assaulted, nor molested in any way. Whoever did this was very careful to keep her healthy, but out of it. It was a mind game."
no subject
"Okay. Thanks, Hank."
no subject
"Go, be with your daughter, when Kim is done. Right now, she needs quiet and rest most of all, and to not feel alone, even if she is out cold. And... you might see about asking one of the counselors here to talk to her."
no subject
"I have to take care of a couple things but I'll be back. If I'm not back by the time Kim's done could you let her know?"
no subject
Hank nods.
"Do what you need to do."
