Hank is in the Infirmary. Just having returned from his honeymoon and feeling good, he has plunged back to work, as usual. He is adjusting a monitor near a bed and fiddling with the readouts as he does so. He just might be humming something cheerful as he does so. His good mood should last since there cant possibly be any doom right now, right?

He hovers nervously, not wanting to get in the way, but obviously wanting to see how she is.

"Please, save my baby!"
no subject
"Try to stay calm", he says soothingly. "We'll do all we can for you and the baby."
no subject
"Jason! You'll give Garion my baby, won't you? Tell him I love him so much."
She tries to say more, but can't for the coughing.
no subject
"I'm right here, Ce'Nedra. You're both going to be fine, ok? Do you want me to get Garion?"
She starts coughing and he anxiously looks to Kevin. "You ok here? I've gotta find her husband."

She fumbles weakly at her chest and then grasps the amulet around her neck. She manages to bring it to her lips and take a deep enough breath to cry out,
"GARION!"

"How're you feeling?"
no subject
She wraps her arms around her belly and wails.
"He's not kicking!"
no subject

"I can't stay awake."
And she passes out again.

"Ce'Nedra..."
no subject
"Oh, Garion, it'll be all right, he says he can save my baby."
no subject
If he'd lied to her...
If he wasn't giving her the BEST care...
"Is she goig to be all right?"
no subject
"The baby's going to be fine. His heartbeat's strong, as far as I can tell there's nothing wrong with him. Ce'Nedra's going to need care, though."
no subject
"Whatever she needs."
He gives her hand a squeeze, the lightest of them possible.
"Anything. Everything."
And a tear drips down from one eye as he looks at her pale skin, listens to her shallow breathing, hears the weakness of her lungs.
His world.
His entire world was in this bed.

Hesitantly, he moves a little closer to his Packmate.
no subject
"He'll be fine, Garion, and Jason's here to help you with him, you'll both raise him just fine, and this other man is such a nice doctor. He hasn't tried to bleed us once."

"You try to open my wife's veins and I will open yours with this." And the Sword of the Rivan King shimmers into view. He's too angry and his intent is too vicious for it to remain hidden at the moment.
Then he turns back to Ce'Nedra.
"And stop with the silliness. You'll be fine. We'll raise our son together. The man here said you'll be all right."
Another look to Kevin.
"She WILL be all right."
Translation: you're going to make sure she's all right or I will reach into your chest and pull out the organs inside in color order.
no subject
"Anyone can see bleeding is the last thing she needs, even if it wasn't a completely barbaric "treatment". And threats aren't going to make me work on her any better than I already would. Try to calm down."
no subject
"Everything will be fine, Garion. But I don't want Aunt Pol raising him. She didn't even teach you to read. The Old Wolf could have done better."
She smiles over to his packmate.
"You'll help him with the reading, won't you, Jason?"
no subject
"Of course I will. I'll even read him the stuff you don't want him reading and you can beat me for it."
He lays a hand on Garion's back and murmurs softly. "We won't let him hurt her, Gar. But you scare him, he might get too nervous to work well."
no subject
His hand squeezes hers.
"You're not going to die. And you're not going to lose the baby. Say what you will about Aunt Pol but she wouldn't tolerate this melodrama so neither will I. You'll be fine."
no subject
She sighs and coughs, and settles into the pillows.
"I'll try to stay, Garion, I love you so much."

My Ce'Nedra...

He gives Ce'Nedra a soft smile, shrugging it off. Pack is Pack, after all. Though he is watching the doctor closely.
no subject
"Could you...write a note to Bernard, let him know I won't be taking my shift today. I--"
There are other concerns.
"Explain things?"
no subject
"No problem. I'll go take care of that now. You...I'll come back and check on you two later, ok?"
He blows Ce'Nedra a kiss and heads out the door.
no subject
"You're welcome to stay here overnight, for as long as Ce'Nedra's here."
no subject
That wasn't in question.
He would have stayed no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT.

He will not sleep.
He will not sleep.

He comes to her side.
"How can I help you?"
(ooc: real life came up execpectedly.)

"I think I feel well enough to leave the Infirmary - I'm taking up a bed that could be used for someone else. With your approval?" She smiles at him, and she is, indeed, looking much better. The shadows under her eyes are all but gone, and her burns are far less livid. Even the torn skin on her hands Is healing nicely.

He sees her scans and nods.
"You look much better and should be fine in your own bed. I am sorry I was not by sooner to take care of it."
no subject
no subject
"Indeed. Ask and she will deliver, as well as some extra clothes for you to wear. And in time i am sure you will work out a way to pay for things here. You are a smart woman and I think you will do okay as long as rules are respected."

"Whatever happens, I wish you well, Jadis. I hope you find what you are looking for."

"Good luck."
