Rachel drew a deep breath and released it slowly, centering herself as best she could. Dragging herself out of the depth of her mind and focusing on the here and now and need. She was needed, so she would be alright.

Then with another sigh she sent her mind questing out to touch a very familiar mind ::Mel?::

Nothing, for a few minutes, then the infirmary door opens silently and Mel slips in, smiling in quiet confidence.

She doesn't say anything until she is sat next to Rachel, holding a hand in both of hers.

::Hey, Rach::

She's often claimed that she doesn't trust anyone, but that's not exactly true. Mel can be far more trusting than usually warrents. The only thing her cynicism earns her is the tendency not to be surprised when she does get screwed over.

::Sure. Have we got the time?::

::If it helps,:: Mel replies, ::then I'll do it. It doens't matter.::

::Mikey'd love this:: She can't help it, the thought is just there, at the top of her mind as she climbs into bed next to Rach, and wrapping a gentle arm around her.

But there's also a memory there. Nights spent sleeping in the hospital bed of another woman, rebuilding trust and family that should never have been broken, caring for someone she wanted to protect more than anything else in the world. Sisters.

::OK::
