The Infirmary isnt quiet, with beeps and hums around the white room, but there are a number of open beds near the door and taken beds with curtains around them further back.

Kevin leads Mara into the room.

Mara eyes the room and groans. She hates places like this. At least Jacen isn't around to bother her.

"You need to be here", Kevin tells her dryly. "It's possible you'll need dialysis."

Mara sighs shakily. "What else will you have to do? You guys need to invest in bactade."

"You said you checked yourself out of hospital too early. What treatment were they giving you there?"

"I didn't check out. I was coming back from Physical therapy...and ended up here. I was on some sort of medicine...whatever they give you post-op for kidney and spinal surgery. And I had an IV for when I was in bed." Mara shrugs softly.

"When did you last take a dose of your medication?"

"About five days ago?" Mara winces.

He sighs.

"No wonder you're getting worse. I don't suppose you know exactly what it was?"

"No, I was still knocked out when they started it. My husband would know, but he's not here. So that's no help. It's not an Earth medicine though." Mara winces again. "I'm sorry."

"I'm not sure mixing medications is a good thing... but you can't carry on like this."

"I'll be fine. If something weird happens, I can cleanse it out myself." Mara waves her hand. "Mystical Jedi junk."

"Excuse me for saying so, but you don't seem to have done such a good job of that up to now."

"That's because it's my kidney being the problem." Mara snaps. "I can handle poisons, bloodflow, and killing myself. But I can't fix whole organs unless I'm in a healing trance. And I haven't had time. And now I'm too weak."

"Then what makes you so sure you're strong enough to cleanse the poison?"

He looks pointedly at one of the infirmary beds.

"Because I've...argh!" Mara glares very angrily at him, then sits on one of the beds. "Happy now?"

"Yes. Now. What's your name, and your son's?"

"Mara Jade Skywalker. And Ben Skywalker." Mara says.

"I'll let him know you're here."

"Thank you." Mara whispers. "I'm sorry I snapped earlier. I don't like being helpless."

"Understandable. We'll get you fixed up here."

"Thank you." Mara whispers again.

"You're welcome."
