Hank leads Naraht into the main area and off into a small curtained area. There is much beeping and quiet noises from copmputers and other equipment.
He gestures for Naraht to stop, and then starts bringing in scanning devices. He quickly modifies an extra infrared scanner into a screen she can read and starts typing.
If you can stay still, I will start the tests. If you feel any discomfort, let me know.

He holds carefully still.
How is Peter doing? he writes. After all, he'd seen an awfully familiar energy pattern in one of the cubicals they passed.

And beyond that the mun doesnt know, since that is still in slowtime.
He runs scans of her and explains each one as they are going, slowly letting the computers add up all the accumalted data.
When he is done he sits back and waits fo the computer to spit out an answer.
(ooc: is this a curse? and if so, what is it? Just so I know what the computers will 'find'...)

And the verdict is?

Then he looks at hir.
Well, there isnt the lesion where ti should be, but the readings... they indicate decreasing activity in the communication areas of the brain without cause, like aphasia, but without any physical markers to show why.
Hank sighs.
We're gonna need better equipment or a mage. I am sorry Iohor.

Well, since this is something that has never been known to occur in Horta, I suppose it's not suprising that the instruments can't see a cause. It's okay, Hank. I guess the next step is to get someone who can check me out on the mystical side involved.
Is there anything to indicate how bad it might get?

He turns to her as he writes more.
we will find a cure, Naraht. Somehow.
Sure hank. Remember the Legacy virus? remember Illyana? You made these promises to her too.
He dashes the thoughts from his mind. He has to be good enough, He has to!

Naraht's generation is the first to use something other than telepathy to communicate. But hir has used it since not long after hatching. After all, it's hard to work with human miners if you can't talk to them. The thought of losing that is chilling.
The thought of losing the other is the stuff of nightmares.

he sighs.

Well, at least I'm prepared.
A bald-faced lie, of course.
What next?

he grasps the fringe gently.
Somehow, this will be solved my friend.

Naraht tries to look jaunty and confident.
If there's nothing else right, I'm heading back out to the Bar for some graphite. I need it. That is, unless you think I shouldn't. You're the doctor, after all.

Eat as well as you can. It is fundamentally important for you to be as well balanced right now as possible. That means sleep when you need to and eat right.
Hank grins and huggs the big Horta.
See you soon, my friend.

Hir hugs Hank back as best hir can.

he waves at Naraht and heads away.
