Check out time

Joly looks over the last few sets of readings and nods, satisfied. "You seem to be recovering well, Monsieur. If you'll promise to follow a few instructions and trust yourself to your daughter's care, I think you can move back to your own rooms today."

He does feel better. His thoughts are not so scattered, and it does not exhaust him merely to raise his arm. He is still tired, but it matters nothing at all. Cosette has barely left him since they came here and while there is a nagging thought that this means danger ahead, he is too happy to dwell on any of it for very long.

'I will do as you say, monsieur.'

He agrees because he very much suspects he will not be given a choice in the matter.

'I am sorry for all the trouble.'
