Joly's answering smile is a little amused; he has some idea of how excited people generally are about following doctor's orders. "No trouble at all. It's what we're here for." It's a bit awkward to have people apologizing to him for making him do his job.

But of course there's more to this particular occasion than that. "And as I told your daughter.you've always been a friend to us. I'm glad we could help you and your family in any way. And--" and there's so much Fauchelevent clearly needs to discuss, but Joly isn't really the one he needs to discuss it with. "well, I hope you'll remember this, and if you have any other difficulties any of us might help with, you'll come in before it gets quite so dramatic." We the Infirmary staff,or we, Joly and his friends, either way. "Do try to remember you can call on us without needing a real crisis." He's smiling, professionally amused, but--seriously. If his patients want to show up before bad health turns into near-death, that is just fine by Joly.
