Sometimes things are better. Sometimes things are worse.
Today? Things are worse.
Michael's itching to get back to Miami, to remove the stupid bandage on the back of his head, to have a drink... to do anything but sit and watch his best friend come in and out of it as he recovers from an explosion that was Michael's fault.
It's always his fault. He knows this. Even when it isn't, there's always something he could have done differently to make it work out. It's only keeping busy that makes it easy not to dwell on the million ways something could have possibly gone right or wrong if he'd done anything different.
But, he's not busy. He's watching Sam sleep while thumbing through a book he found in the infirmary about cowboys that just reminds him William and how he probably should see how everything went after the drive. It's a step up from the trashy romance that only made him think of... well, her. And whatever's going on there when he's not busy trying to put his life back together.
He slouches down in the chair again, hunched over with his face in his hands and drops the book on the floor. "Damn it."
Almost anything is better than waiting for things he can't do anything about.
[OOC: Vising post for both, please tag either Michael or Sam to check in.]
