During and after the bar brawl, many came into the infirmary with injuries that needed treatment. A lot of them walked (or at least limped) out again, with bandages or stitches. Sergeant George Luz, however, was not one of those. He broke a couple of ribs and cracked a few more. So, much to the radioman's dismay, he will be spending some in the infirmary.

And, much to his doctor's dismay, he is rather chatty and fidgety, which means he risks aggravating his injuries at every turn. Zhaan feels better now that she's got a cast around his torso (although Luz certainly doesn't like it), so that the bones in his chest will be kept more or less in place. She has also been giving him painkillers, natural immune boosters, a special medicine to speed the knitting of his bones, and a lot of nutritious food, especially things with calcium in them.

She is also watching him carefully to make sure he doesn't try to get up and walk off, which seems all too likely. But she won't object to someone visiting him - it will keep him occupied - so long as they don't excite him too much.

[After this.]

Frank Black hasn't regained consciousness for more than a few seconds at a time since they brought him in.

A blood test a few hours ago revealed the presence of a drug in his system, disquietingly similar to randinol. When he started to thrash and cry out in his sleep -- murderers, killers, all of you -- Simon mentally took a deep breath and administered a half-dosage of one of River's medications, watching intently for any signs of a bad reaction from the combination. There was none; only the expected result, calming and soothing. And, Simon hopes, controlling the perceptions somewhat.

In the meantime there were Frank's injured hands to treat. Cleaning, mostly, and only a little liquid bandage needed; none of the cuts still bleeding, and none of the bones broken, thankfully. (Nothing like as bad as Kitty Kate Pryde's similar injuries, last month.)

Maybe sometime later Simon will ask him about how he got those, and about how that drug got into his bloodstream. After he's recovered.

The sense of deja vu is not going away anytime soon.

Time passes.
