guppy_sandhuGuppy comes into the infirmary, with Shufti, carrying Jack. He gently places the baby down on a cot, then runs the scanner over him.
After a series of diagnostics he turns back to Shufti.
"Scanner's picking up some bruising around his middle, otherwise he's fine. You protected him from the fall very well. Just to be on the safe side, I'd like to keep him in overnight, just in case he shows anything else, okay?"
She nods, worry creasing her forehead. Guppy gives her a small reassuring smile.
"Babies are much more resiliant than they look."
She lets him check her over, and he doesn't find anything more than bruising on her either. Once he's finished he nods.
"Okay, everything looks alright, although you're going to feel those bruises in the morning. Try and get some rest; we've got enough free beds. I'll keep coming to check on you both, and I'll just be in the office if you need me."
He leaves the mother and baby to comfort one another, then returns every half an hour or so through the night.
